What research says about scalp microneedling

Microneedling rolls very fine needles over the skin to create controlled micro-channels. The scalp's natural repair response to these channels — which involves growth factors and signalling pathways linked to the hair cycle — is triggered by the micro-channels themselves, so it doesn't depend on applying any product. Researchers have studied scalp microneedling both on its own and alongside topical hair treatments; a well-known randomised trial (Dhurat et al., Int J Trichology, 2013) reported greater improvement in hair count when microneedling was added to a topical. Used with serums, it also supports their absorption. This is a cosmetic scalp roller for your routine — individual results vary.

Choosing your needle length

Shorter needles are gentler and used more often; longer needles are for experienced users, less frequently. At 1mm this roller suits experienced users — go slowly, use light pressure, and never roll over broken, irritated or sunburnt skin.

• Patch-test first, and never share your roller with anyone else.
• Avoid active breakouts, wounds, sunburn or irritated skin.
• Replace the head when it starts to feel blunt.

How to use it

1. Start with a clean, dry scalp.
2. Section your hair and roll gently — a few passes back-and-forth, then side-to-side — using light pressure only.
3. Apply your chosen serum afterwards (not included).
4. Use sparingly at this needle length, allowing recovery time between sessions.
